My business is located in Central Alabama. When hurricanes come blowing up the gulf
coast we usually get tornados, lots of rain, wind, the general thunder storm event.
Local floods, etc.
The type of business I handle includes large commercial tents. Tents that can be as
large as a football field, or as small as a 6x10 bathroom.
When Hurricane Katrina came blowing in, it left behind a great need for temporary
shelter, for things like power crews, a makeshift morgue, housing for supplies, anything
from clothing to food.
Or just to process homeless folks. If you recall it took the Federal Government about
4 days to respond to at all to the needs being broadcasted on every news outlet.
But when the call came for my company to provide housing for about 300 workers
at a power plant in Gulfport, MIssissippi, and also a large tent to feed them,
we got on the ball, and in less than 24 hours my men were on location and ready to
install the equipment needed by Georgia Power.
